Artist Robert Guthrie purchased a defunct gas station and converted it into his personal residence. The house, located in Bayou St. John outside of the French Quarter of New Orleans, is his biggest art project yet. Guthrie has found a way to blend his modern sensibility with a love of nostalgia. The main bathroom sconces are actually repurposed car headlights, and the stairway landing is the original hydraulic lift used by the gas station in days gone by.
